GBK February Newsletter

Hi Everyone

Welcome to our first newsletter of 2024! The team have been busy preparing our exciting new sister club, Gracie Barra Apperley Bridge, as well as organising exciting new awards for our GBK students to enjoy - we can’t wait to reveal our FIRST Member of the Month for each of our programmes at the end of February!

A big shout out to James who attended the Empire Grappling North East Open this weekend. We’re so happy with the way he tested himself, and the amazing effort he put in not only on the day, but in the build up to the competition. Congratulations, James!

Our very own Coach Jack went and tested himself on the big stage of a Super Fight at The Victory Invitational in Liverpool at the start of February - he leads by example and we’re proud of him testing himself on the big stage - well done Coach Jack!

We look forward to seeing everyone on the mats over the next few weeks!

Team GB Harrogate

GBK Member of the Month - Coming Soon!

We’re so excited to be launching Member of the Month at the end of February! We’ve got a trophy for each of our GBK age groups: Tiny Champion of the Month, Little Champion 1 of the Month, Little Champion 2 of the Month, and finally, Junior and Teen of the month.

We’re so proud of each and every one of our GBK Members for the progress they make and the effort they put in each week. The Member of the Month trophy rewards the student the coaching team feels leads by example and lives by the values we discuss in class. This is awarded each month - so there’s always an opportunity for our GBKs to win!

Empire Grappling North East Open

A huge well done and congratulations to everyone who headed to the Empire Grappling North East Open this weekend! For some it was their first competition, or first competition at a new belt.

A special shout out to James who went and represented our GBK competition team! Not only did he show great Jiu Jitsu, more importantly he showed awesome determination and spirit before and after his matches - well done James, you smashed it!

Coach Jack Takes On His First Super Fight

A huge well done to Coach Jack who entered his first super fight event on the 4th of February! We’re so proud of the way he stepped his game up and reached another intensity in competition at the Victory Invitational event in Liverpool.

Coach Jack has had setbacks from injury, but shows his resilience and love for self improvement by continuously pushing himself outside of his comfort zone - well done Coach Jack - everyone at Gracie Barra Harrogate is hugely proud of you.

GB Apperley Bridge Update

Our fit out of our sister school is coming along nicely! With lighting in and changing rooms built, we’re starting to get a great feel for how the space will look. There’s plenty of work to do between now and our opening in March, so keep an eye on our social media accounts for updates - @gb_apperley_bridge!
