Gracie Barra Harrogate Adults September Newsletter
Welcome to our September newsletter! It’s been a great month so far. We’ve seen some excellent competition success at the recent South Yorkshire Open, and at the back end of August, we welcomed the brilliant Ross Nicholls to the academy for a fantastic seminar.
We’ve got plenty of events planned for the rest of the year, from a BJJ Rules Seminar through to an Interclub competition with our sister school Gracie Barra Apperley Bridge (more to come on that later!).
If you’re interested in competing, there’s plenty coming up! The Gracie Barra Compnet tournament comes back to Wolverhampton on the 29th of September, and registrations are open until the 22nd! If you’re looking for something a little further away, we’ve got a competition team heading to the Lancashire Open on the 3rd of November. See more below!

BJJ Rules Seminar 20th October
Whether you’re interested in becoming a BJJ referee or simply want to broaden your understanding of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ruleset, we’ve got just the seminar for you! On the 20th of October, we’ll be hosting a rules seminar with Emil from Empire Grappling. Take your game to the next level or begin your referee career in Jiu Jitsu! GBF: Returning Week Commencing 7th October
The next GBF programme is right around the corner, kicking off the week commencing 7th October. We’re so excited to welcome a new group of women to the academy for an in-depth introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! If you know someone who might be interested, they can head here to get started.
Upcoming Competitions: CompNet and the Empire Grappling Lancashire Open
Competition season carries on! Gracie Barra’s own competition CompNet returns to Wolverhampton at the end of the month, and offers a great way to test yourself against fellow Gracie Barra members! Find out more and sign up here!

Empire Grappling South Yorkshire Open
A HUGE well done to everyone who attended the South Yorkshire Open at the beginning of September - we couldn’t be prouder of the effort everyone put in not only on the day, but on the build up to the event, too. A big shout out to Archie,Angus, Nathan, Harry, Oscar, Josh, Oliver, Joel, Luke, Max, Aza, Rob, Nathan, Stefanie, Joshua and Sofia! 16 competitors over a huge range of brackets - well done everyone!
Ross Nicholls No Gi Seminar
