Hi Everyone
Welcome back to our newsletter! We’ve got an exciting May ahead, and it’s really exciting to see so many of our GBK members testing themselves at the upcoming Empire Grappling Yorkshire Open in Barnsley. We know how hard everyone has been working ahead of the competition, and we can’t wait for everyone to enjoy the day and support each other on and off the mats.
We’re also really excited to announce our latest Members of the Month across Tiny Champs, Little Champs 1, Little Champs 2 and Juniors and Teens. Autumn, Arlo, Evalyn and Imogen showed amazing effort over the last month, and despite tough competition, have won the trophy for April - well done guys!
Finally, we’re really excited to revamp our referral scheme. We’ve simplified the process to ensure every member can receive rewards for welcoming their friend to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, be it at Gracie Barra Harrogate, or at our sister school Gracie Barra Apperley Bridge - find out more information on rewards below!

Well Done to Our April Members of the Month!
A huge well done to Autumn, Arlo, Evalyn and Imogen, who have bagged Member of the Month on their respective GBK programmes! They showed excellent perseverance, dedication and skill throughout the month to each their trophies!
It’s never easy to choose as we see so many of our students improving week on week, and putting in a huge amount of effort into not only their Jiu Jitsu, but their positive contribution to each class. A big well done to everyone, for what was a brilliant April with some great Jiu Jitsu seen across the board.
Our revamped referral reward scheme is here!
As you may have seen in our recent email, we’ve refreshed our referral scheme - simplifying it to ensure our members can benefit from referral rewards quickly, with various rewards now available!
For every friend that signs up to a membership at Gracie Barra Harrogate or Gracie Barra Apperley Bridge, you will receive a reward to the value of £20 from us. This can be redeemed as £20 off your membership the following month, a £20 voucher to spend in the GB Wear shop, £20 off a future seminar - or if you’re feeling super nice, you can gift it to your friend!
Simply ensure your friend quotes your name at the first point of enquiry to receive your reward! Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or would like any more information on the scheme.
Empire Grappling Yorkshire Open Incoming
We’re so excited to see so many members heading to the Yorkshire Open on the 12th of May. A huge good luck to everyone taking part: Alex, Joel, Kamil, Coach Jack, Luke, Evalyn, Sofia, Oliver, Sampson, James, Eva, Imogen and Archie!
We’ll be rooting for you - enjoy the day and the experience of testing yourselves outside of the academy.
Gracie Barra Harrogate Women Tackle Total Warrior In Support of New Beginnings!
A brave group of women from Gracie Barra Harrogate are taking on Total Warrior on the 22nd of June to support the New Beginnings Peer Support. Fundraising such as this is vital to New Beginnings, funding their efforts to be highly responsive to their client's needs.
Whether that is covering travel expenses to enable a 1:1 meeting face to face or to get children to childcare in the summer holidays, the cost of a video doorbell for added security at child handovers or to cover overtime to enable peer mentors to attend advocacy meetings. Every little helps!
